Tara's Playground
On May 22nd, 2016 the T.A.R.A Foundation officially opened Tara's Playground at the North Entrance of Fair Grove District Park. The T.A.R.A. (Take Action Regarding Abuse) Foundation was established in memory of long time Fair Grove resident Tara Bass. The group held numerous fundraisers to raise money towards the purchase of playground equipment.
We are so grateful for their efforts, and support in bringing this playground to the community. We hope all will enjoy it and take care of it. A HUGE thank you to all who helped make this possible.

New Playground Equipment Coming Soon
The Fair Grove District Park Board and the Fair Grove Community are the proud recipients of new donated playground equipment. The T.A.R.A. Foundation will be donating various pieces of new playground equipment to install at the existing Hill Top playground area this spring.
The T.A.R.A. (Take Action Regarding Abuse) Foundation was established in memory of long time Fair Grove resident Tara Bass. The group held numerous fundraisers to raise money towards the purchase of playground equipment to be constructed at the existing park in honor of her memory.
As the project installation progresses over the next couple months we will be sure to keep our community and park patrons up to date on its progress and the ribbon cutting ceremony which will be held (date to be determined).
The Fair Grove District Park Board is extremely honored and thankful for the generous support the T.A.R.A. Foundation has shown for our community and our organization. We are grateful to be able to honor Tara Bass in such an honorable way for generations to come.
On behalf of the Fair Grove District Park Board we would like to extend our heartfelt thankfulness to The T.A.R.A. Foundation for their support and donation to the Fair Grove Community.

Jesse Ray Higfill Soccer Memorial
The Friends of the Park recently added the Jesse Ray Dixon Highfill Soccer Memorial at the Fair Grove District Park. The memorial is located in front of the concession stand and is next to the district park soccer fields.
This memorial will be surrounded by commemorative bricks which are available for purchase through Friends of the Park (see tab above). These commemorative bricks are priced at $50 each. This is a project that has been in the works for over 5 years and we look forward to its completion. |
Walking Trails Paving Project
The Fair Grove District Park Board is super excited to be able to announce that we were able to add an additional one-half mile of walking trails to the park. This addition would not have been possible without the extensive efforts of Fair Grove residents Austin Miller and Brian Bettencort. These gentlemen were able to graciously secure donations from Berry Tractor, Inc (Springfield, MO), Willard Asphalt & Paving Co, Inc (Lebanon, MO), and ROADTEC (Chattanooga, TN) to facilitate this capital improvement project.
The bids for the work needed at the park to facilitate the paving of parking lots and walking trails well exceeded over a half-million dollars. For this capital improvement project the Fair Grove District Park Board only incurred materials cost, which allowed our earmarked budget of $30,000 to go further than we had ever imagined.
Through their dedicated persistence and commitment to give back to the community they were able to secure equipment donations and the labor was donated by Willard Asphalt & Paving Co., Inc.
On behalf of the Fair Grove District Park Board and Fair Grove Community we would like to extend our thanks to each of these gentlemen and the businesses that so graciously supported giving back to our community through their generous donations. We ask those that are also thankful for the results that their efforts afforded to our community to also reach out and thank all those involved. Without their donations this project would not have been possible.
City Hall Park Undergoes Transformation
Many improvements have been made recently at the City Hall Park. Be sure to check out the new volleyball net, new swings, Frisbee golf goals, new basketball nets, children's playgrounds, and picnic facilities with grills. Special thanks go to the Peace Chapel kids who painted and cleaned, their youth leaders, and Shelly and Mark Raymond who coordinated and worked on these projects. Restrooms are now open for your convenience, and two shelters provide picnic tables with roofs to offer shelter from rain or sun. Thanks to the Fair Grove Board of Aldermen who voted to purchase the Frisbee Golf land and donate it to the Fair Grove District parks. We are growing!
When visiting the park and you or a group would like to play basketball, volleyball or frisbee golf, be sure to stop by and see the librarian inside city hall. The Springfield-Greene County Library - Fair Grove Branch, has a volleyball, basketball and all frisbee golf materials to loan out, ensuring you and your group have the supplies needed to have a great time!
